Kiln Notes

Kiln Notes

A working log from a one-person studio: firing schedules, glaze tests, and a fairly honest account of what comes out broken.

Nothing here is instruction. It is a record kept mostly so that I stop repeating the same three mistakes, and partly because other potters have told me their own notes were the most useful thing they ever wrote.

How this studio works

One wheel, one electric kiln, stoneware and a little porcelain when patience allows. Firings happen when there is a full load and not before, which usually means every third week. Everything is thrown; nothing is cast.
